Tonight, BMW Motorrad Philippines, will unveil a motorcycle for the first time digitally. Being unwrapped online will be the new F 900 R.
First launched in EICMA 2019, the new model hopes to bridge the gap between their entry-level roadster, the G 310 R, and the S 1000 R, offering roadster styling and maneuverability with the smooth power and compact dimensions of a parallel twin engine.
The F 900 R is the latest product from BMW’s steadily expanding F series platform. The new F 900 R is powered by the same twin-cylinder engine found on the F 850 GS, bored up from 853 cc to 895 cc. It now produces 106 Ps and an even fuller torque curve with a maximum torque of 92 Nm. To help reign in all this power, the new F 900 R features ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ riding modes that come as standard. Top speed is claimed to be more than 200 kilometers per hour.
To help produce more power, the cylinder heads were machined and new forged pistons were used (previously cast pistons). This creates a particularly powerful, emotional sound – similar to that of a 90-degree V2 engine. The sound is rounded off by a completely new and very sporty underfloor silencer system made of stainless steel.
Like the F series GS models, the new F 900 R also makes use of a steel bridge frame that integrates the engine as a load-bearing element. The fuel tank that is now back to its classic position in front of the rider. Front wheel control is taken care of by an upside-down
